Does the mystique of large format cameras get you excited and curious to learn how these cameras work? Then this is the workshop for you! Tony Santo will provide you with a one-on-one learning environment that will get you up close and personal with these cameras. He will show you to properly load film into your film holders so that you get perfect results. Metering a scene is the most challenging part of getting the image to turn out just right and you'll learn Tony's technique for achieving the look you are after. One of the most unique aspects about these cameras is that you can use camera movements to affect the way your image is rendered on film; Tony will show you these on both his 4x5 and 8x10 Zone Vi Studios, Inc. field box cameras. Finally, there are quite a number of steps to follow before clicking the shutter and Tony will show you how to properly complete all of them. This workshop includes two hours of instruction with Tony Santo.

DEVELOPING E-6 (TRANSPARENCY/SLIDE FILM/ COLOR REVERSAL)

Transparency or slide or color reversal film, uses the E-6 process to develop this type of color film. Unlike black and white film, the E-6 process is challenging to complete because of the need for specialized equipment and tight controls of the entire procedure. Tony Santo will show how to develop your E-6 film from start to finish on the Jobo CPP2 processor, including the mixing of chemistry, to ensure consistent and fabulous results every time. The workshop includes 4 hours of instruction, 2 pieces of Fujifilm and a 5 liter chemistry kit that you'll take home with you once your training is complete. Please note that the process Tony Santo uses is the 6-bath method that dedicated labs across the world use to process their film and not the hobbyist kits (3-bath technique).

STUDiO LIGHTING WITH LARGE FORMAT CAMERAS

Does studio lighting seem intimidating? Tony Santo will walk you through the four types of portrait lighting: split lighting, loop lighting, Rembrandt lighting, and butterfly lighting. Tony will also show you how to properly meter the studio strobes to get the effect you are after from your studio portraiture. In addition, Tony will demonstrate how to connect a large format camera to a wireless triggering system to use the camera in a studio setting. This workshop includes 4 hours of instruction plus summary handouts.
